Growth.
I’ll always remember driving the Playhouse float in the Christmas Parade one year and seeing the whole route lined with eager young people. It struck me that there weren‘t many young adults staying in Crossville after school because there aren’t enough good job opportunities to make it worth their while to stay here. I made up my mind to try to create a culture of stability in City Hall to create conditions to expand existing businesses and to try to bring in new ones.
Since Rob Harrison has been on the City Council, Crossville has experienced growth with the addition of Chick-Fil-A, Bu-cees, improvements in sidewalks, WhisperAero locating downtown, the WhisperAero Hangar, the Flatrock Motorclub is underway, airport upgrades, road improvements, downtown traffic and street lights, Rural King, Meadow Park Lake's expansion (to include disc golf), amplifying the brand of Crossville as the Golf Capital of Tennessee... all of which are "helping Crossville to do great things," as Larry Kidwell said. -
Community.
What makes our community strong, and special? We are blessed to be surrounded by natural beauty, and populated with wonder citizens. We have volunteers who help make our community stronger, safer, and more cohesive. Plus, these shared experiences can help people form connections based on common interests and bonds.
Strong social connections are the foundation of strong communities and are a great predictor of long-term happiness and health. Respecting one another is a key ingredient for a strong community. That includes respecting their right to disagree.
Sustainability is a key ingredient for a strong community, requiring opportunities for good jobs. Of course, there's more to life than work. Having fun together at community events can help a city like ours flourish. From enjoying the fair and the car shows downtown, to supporting local high school activities or catching the latest production at the Playhouse... these activities draw us together.
Beautifying neighborhoods can have a big impact on residents' lives. Volunteer to help clean up a school playground in the summer. Join a garden club to strengthen neighborhoods by offering a common goal and helping residents develop neighborly relationships.
Last but not least, let us celebrate the community's successes together to continually renew our sense of pride and belonging in Crossville.

Responsibility.
I've been referred to as "the numbers guy" by friends I've served with on boards. In fact, my career started with the accounting firm (then known as) Price Waterhouse before I brought my young family back to Crossville to lead Plateau Properties.
I can assure you the City Council has been very careful, and conservative, with the taxpayers' money, building up a very strong balance sheet with about $24-$25 million in savings. This would allow us to operate the General Fund for almost a year with no property or sales tax revenue at all!
Because of this strong financial position, I am urging the City to apply to Standard and Poors for a higher credit rating, which could save the City millions of dollars in interest expenses.
